What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

Solution Focused hypnotherapy (SFH) is a combination of Psychotherapy together with hypnosis. This therapy is supported by modern neuroscience and research and uses structured and practical techniques to help you make significant and positive changes in a relatively short period of time.

As a SFH therapist I will encourage you to think about how you want things to be (the solution) rather than whatever has prompted you to seek help (the problem).  Hypnotherapy can help you make the changes towards your preferred future by targeting subconscious parts of your brain and using the power of suggestion to promote positive change.

Our brains have the ability to make new connections and change the way we think.  Positive practices change your brain for the better.  By repeated practice thinking positively becomes a habit and you can make positive change.

What to expect from hypnotherapy sessions 

Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process, where we work together to establish and achieve desired goals.

  • In the first session (Initial Consultation) I will ask you some basic background information, but most importantly, what you would like to achieve from hypnotherapy.  I explain how the brain works and how problems can develop and what can be done to help you.
  • Following sessions encourage you to think positively and imagine how you would like life to be. I encourage you to identify small changes which would improve things for you, before guiding you into a relaxation trance (hypnosis) to help promote the changes you want.

Everyone is individual and the number of sessions depends on what you are seeking help for.  Some clients make significant progress very quickly, others take a little longer but we will monitor your progress so you get the most from your sessions.

Typically it can take about 6 to 12 sessions.

  • Overcoming Fears & Phobias – typically 3 structured sessions after the initial consultation
  • Stopping smoking or vaping – 1 session (90 minutes – 120 minutes)
